This 1887/6 3CN JD-1 CA CAC Proof Three Cent Nickel has been certified and graded by PCGS as PR66. PCGS’s encapsulation guarantees the coin's PR66 Condition. The three-cent nickel piece or also called the three-cent nickel, was designed by US Mint Chief Engraver James B. Longacre and struck by the US Mint from 1865 to 1889. The three-cent nickel was very popular until the five-cent nickel was introduced. Many were melted down to coin more five-cent pieces and Congress eventually abolished it.
